Hi Ya'll,
Here is a website for recipes made our kananadiga style..
http://malasa.com/cookbook/
Usually, when I have looked online for Indian food recipes, I have mostly seen North Indian style recipes, so thought this mught be interesting..
Ofcourse, nothing hits home better than family recipes,so lets do this..
Lets each post our favorite recipe, and, lets make it something that is typical of a traditional kannadiga home cooked meal, that would make a lovely collection!
Best,
Vidya
P.S. This should help to keep our blog more interactive?Any other ideas?

KOOTU
cook mixed vegtables with toordaal.
fry two spoons kadale bele, 2 spoons uddina bele, six kaalu pepper, 4 to 6 red chillies and grind them alongwith coconut thuri, little bella with little water grind to neeru chattini like thing.
put 4 spoons oil in a pan or banale with sasuve, pinch of hingu and add the cooked dhal vegtables and grinded chatni, add groundnuts and boil them on low flame for 15 minutes stirring in between, thumba bega adi hattuthe watch.
Ranju, thanx for the recipe. You might have some recipes from ajji that I don't, so thanks for sharing this with us. I will try this out this weekend. Last weekend, Uday had made soppina kootu and SG was asking "is the real kootu?"! To be fair, it was pretty good. Now I will make this and tell SG that it's "THE" real kootu! Hurray Kramadhatis...smile!
Vidya, I saw the website briefly, it looks really good. Thanks for putting it here! I can't wait to try some recipes from it. I promise to post some of my recipes as soon as I get some time...
PS: Is it possible to send alerts from the blog whenever there is a new posting? You know...I am gettin' old and forget to check sometimes....
Ranju had made this Kootu when I visited her and Sri in Huntsville, it was amazing! I had not eaten it in a long time, and it definitely hit home!
hey u dont hav to thank me for the recipe, we all hav to thank ajji...
thanks for the website vidya, will hav to try something this weekend...
We tried the Pineapple gojju, was amazing.. the only problem was, the pineapple didnt get cooked even after boiling it for a long time, but the taste was super!
Hey gals, I tried two recipes from that kannada recipes site. The kichidi was too dry inspite of adding more water than she recommended. Will try again with no toor dal I think. The masala roti with mini was awesome! I especially liked that it had soy flour and I will make it again. Thanks for the site Vidya!
This website has some authentic "namma ooru" recipes, unlike so many others.. Even her Gojju recipe was really good..
